64Digits Disaster

In the wake of the decompiler release, several staff member decided to demote GearGOD due to numerous complaints and less-than-true accusations of spreading the decompiler through the site. He then proceeded to hack the site again and post screenshots of v3. The staff are still somewhat disorganized. Arcalyth has resigned, and rumor has it that flashback will as well.

64Digits v3 Beta

This was followed by a rush of people declaring that they were quitting the site, and several flame wars ensued in blogs. At the moment the site is functional but in chaos, and plans are being drafted for a completely new community, codenamed Phoenix.

The central location for this new planning is http://reform64.wordpress.com/ UPDATE: Rumor has it that Phoenix is now disbanded.

64Digits Shut Down?

Earlier today, 64Digits user TwistyWristy used an exploit in 64Digits to take over DesertFox’s account. He then made a news post to demonstrate his exploit. The site was taken offline temporarily, but is now partially back up.

The site is expected to fully re-open when the long-anticipated v3 is completed. For the present most site features can be used, but HTML and BB64Code are completely disabled.

Tutorial Contest

Game Maker tutorials host site GMTutorials.com is announcing a contest to create the best tutorials. The first place prize is $75 or a free year of webhosting, and the second prize is $25. The site staff will choose the winner, although public opinion will be taken into account.

The submissions deadline is February 1st. To enter, just publish a tutorial on the site as usual. The work must be your own, can be edited after submission, and must not contain offensive material. The contest deadline may be extended one month if more than 15 submissions are not received.

In other news, the GMC has an updated rule. The legal bumping time is now 2 days instead of three, but not much else has changed.

Also, 64Digits has re-opened the IRC channel on a third-party server. Details can be found in the official news post.

64Digits Wars

After being online for several weeks, 64Digits was offline for several minutes yesterday. The site has a history of frequent downtime, but after the most recent server move it has been comparatively stable.

However, the recent short downtime has an interesting story behind it. Well-known member GearGOD was banned after misusing Javascript to post hardcore porn visible only to another member, sk8m8trix. GearGOD then unbanned himself once, and site admin ludamad banned him again.

He attempted again to unban himself, but 64Digit’s staff had apparently locked him out successfully. The site then experienced a flood of MySQL errors for unknown reasons and went offline for a few minutes. The site was quickly restored, but today GearGOD took over ludamad’s account and made a 64Digits news post under ludamad’s name. All of ludamad’s blogs were also deleted and his preferences wiped.

The news post asked user what they thought should be done about GearGOD, and “made me [ludamad] sound stupid”. The comments on the post were quite entertaining with almost every opinion imaginable heatedly expressed. The post has since been deleted.

When asked for comment, GearGOD said “if you [expletive] with me, there are consequences”.
