GM TV Startup Wars

Recently there has been a trend of users starting up or planning Game Maker based TV/video services.

aracnoX is looking for support for a ‘YYGTV’ network where viewers can play games, and “watch pivot animations or flash animations”. How exactly this is classified under ‘TV’, we’re not too sure.

Another user, Ariodas, wants to use the already popular ‘GMTV’ name for a Game Maker application that will essentially work like a TV set-top box allowing you to view other user’s Game Maker TV channels.

Users are going as far as to claim their own channels on these TV networks, one user reportedly saying, “GM Tutorials? Chanel 23 Please.”

But it’s not just Game Maker tv shows that are starting up, YouTube is also becoming flooded with Game Maker tutorial videos almost every hour of the day (see below).

It is uncertain whether this sudden increase in GM video services is the result of inspiration from the latest GMTV Episode 4 by Dan Eggers.

Updates & Prize Give-aways

Updates

It has been a while since our last post, and we’re sorry to have kept you waiting. The Scorptek team decided to take a break from GMNews this month in order to focus its efforts on improving some of our other services and creating new ones that we have every confidence will be successful.

One of these services will involve many new improvements and additions to GMNews and will be announced sometime in the upcoming weeks. Meanwhile, the monthly prize give-away (see details below), will be an ongoing project that will eventually become part of the new service once it has been released.

Prize Give-aways

As part of a new effort to involve the community in discussion and collaboration of Game Maker related news, we will be offering FREE prize give-aways every month to users who contribute to the GMNews community.

How it works: At the end of each month, the user who contributes the best comments and/or news tips (sent to postMyGMNews@scorptek.net) will be awarded a gaming related prize of their choice from the options below. The best comments and/or news tips will be selected by the Scorptek staff based on their content and quality. The more quality and meaningful comments or news tips you submit each month, the more likely you are to win each give-away.
