C++ Runner Beta Slated for February

Sandy at YoYo Games has announced in a recent blog post that a beta of the the C++ runner is scheduled for February, 2008. A Mac beta is expected to be available before the end of this year.

YoYoGames is also planning to require registration for new Game Maker downloads. This is ostensibly to provide better demographics on Game Maker users in order to improve Game Maker.

  1. Hmmmm… there’s a whole discussion going on whether or not the Mac version is just a waste of resources. On one hand: there are few Mac users amongst the GMC. On the other hand: it expands the public people can reach.

  2. There are few Mac users on the GMC _because_ it’s not for gm yet. Duh.

  3. Rusky is right. I would love to play game maker games on my Mac, and so I installed Windows. However, that’s a huge hassle and it will be great when that is no longer needed. I’ll probably buy it and only compile my games for Mac.

  4. Also, I should’ve mentioned an important fact: Mac purchases are growing faster than the rest of the industry. At some point Mac market share will be surprisingly large, and they don’t want to cut out a large percentage of people and have another company develop something that rivals their product.
