GM7 Final Release Date

Mark has officially announced what appears to be the final release date for Game Maker 7. He does say it is approximate, so don’t get your hopes up yet as there has certainly been some delays before getting to the GM7 release (with reason).

The given date is now Febuary 15th, give or take a couple of days.

Please remember, Mark is a very busy man (especially lately), and apart from being the author of the Game Maker software he is also a professor at a university. The year of 2006 was quite busy with the publication of the Game Maker’s Apprentice book and release of the Game Maker 7 beta. I’m sure Mark has even more outstanding plans and releases for 2007, including of course the expected Game Maker 7 beta; so please be patient.

Mark also said just recently that Game Maker 7 is now feature-complete. This means that Mark will not be adding any new features to Game Maker 7 before its final release, so if there is something you were hoping for that you missed out on this time arround you’ll have to wait for 7.1 or whatever Mark decides to release next. Although Mark won’t be adding new features, there is still the high possibility that in the upcoming weeks he will be improving the new features found in the beta versions.

For example, one feature allowing users to Publish their executables online was and is still not functional in the beta versions of the program, but will most likely be finished and ready for the release of the final 7.0 program.

So who knows what is to come next, hopefully the release will be on time, to bad it wasn’t during the Australian summer holidays or I would have more time to experiment with it.
